Amyre Makupson is an American former news anchor and director of public affairs at WKBD in Detroit who was born in River Rouge, Michigan. Makupson currently works on the boards of The Alzheimer’s Foundation, the Sickle Cell Association, the Skillman Foundation, Covenant House, the Providence Hospital Fund, as well as the March of Dimes.
She held positions at WSM-TV in Nashville as well as WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., prior to moving back to Detroit in the year 1975 to work as director of public relations for Head Start, the Michigan Health Maintenance Organization.
