Borah football player kicks 'like a girl'

Some might say Borah High School's kicker 'kicks like a girl,' but Eden Makaafi says she wouldn't have it any other way!

"When we are saying 'good job' at the end of a game, they'll be like 'that's a girl!?' I am like 'yup!' said Eden Makaafi.

Eden is the starting kicker for the Borah High School football team.

She's been playing soccer since she was young.

This year, she decided to put those kicking skills to use on the American football field.

Eden says she decided to give football a try because she wanted to be on the same team with her brother, Eli, who is a senior this year.

Eli and his teammates were happy to welcome her to the team.

Eden says being the starting kicker comes with a lot of pressure but it's nothing she can't handle.

"Women are strong. We have to stay strong. Especially being surrounded in a male-dominated environment - that has to come out even more! Bringing that woman role out of the shadows is pretty close to my heart."

Eden's goal is to play soccer in college but she says she's not counting football off her list just yet.
