FIFA 23’s release is getting closer and closer day by day. Fans are very excited and cannot wait for the game to be dropped. There is plenty of hype for the new game, and it is already being dubbed as arguable the greatest FIFA edition of EA Sports, despite it not even having been released yet.
The new game has been scheduled to launch of September 30, and 3 days earlier on September 27 for those who have early access to the game. The player ratings for FIFA 23 are now official, after EA Sports announced the 23 highest-rated players in the game a couple of days ago. Why Has Ronaldo Been Downgraded in FIFA 23?
The recent official FIFA 23 ratings of the top 23 highest-rated players in the game revealed the ratings and stats of many players fans have been wondering about. Top spot is shared by 5 players, Mbappe, Benzema, Lewandowski, Messi, and De Bruyne. All these players have been given a rating of 91 OVR and are the highest rated players in the game.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s FIFA 23 ratings received a downgrade, to the disappointment of the fans. Although he is still one of the highest rated players in the game with an overall of 90, his detailed stats reveal that the the rating is not justified by his stats. Ronaldo wouldn’t be a preferred player to use on the pitch in FIFA 23 as even though he is rated 90, he won’t be as effective this year as he has been over the past editions of EA Sports’ FIFA.
Ronaldo’s FIFA 23 rating hints at the slow downfall of the player we are beginning to see. He had a disappointing season last year with Manchester United. Although he actually performed well while his team was struggling, it wasn’t enough to stop his downgrade. Players such as Messi also took a hit in stats but not as much as Ronaldo, as even though Messi didn’t score many goals last season, he was still effective in other ways which shows that statistics don’t mean everything. Age
Cristiano Ronaldo has great fitness and physical health, especially for his age, allowing him to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world at 37. But it is inevitable that he is getting old. EA definitely takes his age into account while downplaying his pace and strength.
Competition
Ronaldo’s age isn’t the only reason for the low rating. Other players like Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe have had excellent seasons, especially Real Madrid’s Benzema, who took his club to victory in both La Liga and the Champions League last season. The rise of Mbappe and other talents like him gives veterans tough competition. Other players who outrank him, such as Kevin de Bruyne and Lewandowski, have had successful domestic seasons with their respective clubs too. Salah and Van Dijk have also just missed out on the Premier League.
Disappointing Premier League Finish
Ronaldo’s FIFA 23 ratings would have heavily been affected by his team Manchester United’s position at the end of the Premier League season last year. They finished 6th in what was an utterly disappointing season. Ronaldo has been out of favor this season as well, after being placed on the bench a lot as of late.
