Heartbroken Asuka finally breaks silence after losing her WWE Womens Championship at SummerSlam

July 2024 · 3 minute read

The semi-main event spot for SummerSlam 2023 was scheduled for the Triple Threat match for WWE Women’s Championship. Asuka had to defend her championship against two opponents, Bianca Belair, and Charlotte Flair; thus, the predictions for this match were unpredictable for a long time. But the outcome of the match saw the champion’s loss against Belair, and ever since then, Asuka has reacted on Twitter for the first time.

Asuka took to Twitter to write a message stating her future in WWE. The Empress of Tomorrow wrote, “This journey of mine will continue for a little while longer.” She then added that the journey will last a little longer and stressed the words “little more” indicating a shorter run probably. Asuka then stated that this reign is a more precious time for her than ever. Thus, this was another proof that the inaugural WWE Women’s Championship can be seen for a brief period now.

This journey of mine will continue for a little while longer.
Just a little more… little more… 👋
It's more precious time than ever.

Belair suffered an injury in the match but then came back to win the title from Asuka. Her 450 splash over both women added up to her chances of being the champion. But Charlotte made efforts to lock The EST of WWE into a figure-four leglock. However, Belair was quick on her feet and got a roll-up pinfall victory over Asuka.

But the scenario favored Bianca just for a while, as her championship reign lasted a few minutes because of Iyo Sky. Mrs. Money in the Bank came running to the ring alongside Bayley and smashed Asuka and Flair, who were on their way to Bianca. Sky then waited no more and attacked Belair with the briefcase itself, then cashed it in on her. Iyo then performed a Moonsault on her and secured her pinfall victory over the newly crowned champion.

Records made in the Triple Threat match at SummerSlam

The triple threat match between Asuka, Bianca Belair, and Charlotte Flair was an unpredictable bout at SummerSlam. The WWE Women’s Championship was on the line, and every woman had equal chances to secure her win, but it was not only limited to them. As Mrs. Money in the Bank, Iyo Sky was an equal threat.

The original match between the three stars came out as a relatively longer match that lasted over 20 minutes. It was the longest women’s match to be held ever at SummerSlam, which also featured incredible performances and a storyline. But the later interference of Sky also made a record that is barely possible to break.

Iyo and Belair’s match was the shortest match ever held for the WWE Women’s Championship. This match also broke the undefeated streak of The Queen at SummerSlam, with her record now at 5-1. Nevertheless, the sufficient time for that match with a shocking end was deserving of these numerous records.
