According to a recent news release, the Idaho County Sheriff's Office and United Search Corp recovered Marsha Hayes and her vehicle from the Big Salmon River on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

Marsha was last seen on the morning of May 22, 2024, driving a grey 2006 Acura MDX northbound on Highway 95 from Riggins with her Australian Shepherd service dog, Maggie. Vehicle parts and a license plate confirmed to belong to Marsha were found along the river on May 24.

Doug Bishop of United Search Corp, a nonprofit organization out of Oregon, was requested to search the Big Salmon River. Bishop used his side scan sonar towed by a jet boat and located a vehicle underwater about a quarter mile downstream from the crash site.

Bishop went to the location and used underwater cameras to confirm Marsha was still inside the vehicle. Marsha's body and her car were successfully recovered from the Big Salmon River.
