Marissa Dubois is an American model, content creator and social media influencer. She is best known for her runway performances at fashion events like the Miami Swim Week. Before finding fame, Dubois wanted to work in the American military.

Marrisa Dubois was born on March 31, 1995, in the United States of America. She disclosed to SHOUTOUT MIAMI that she studied Criminology at Florida State University and graduated in 2016.

Dubois worked as a homicide detective for her senior internship. She initially wanted to join the military. However, she changed her mind about working for the government after learning “a lot of hard truths” during her internship.

After graduating from FSU, she opted to travel the world, starting from Morocco where she worked at an orphanage. Later on, she went to China and Thailand where she encountered many people who found creative ways to work for themselves.

Coming back to the U.S., she began waiting tables and bartending while studying more about marketing, online platforms and how to obtain freelance work. After three years, Dubois began to work as a social media manager running social media for clients such as Global Affiliate Zone (2017 to 2019), Monat Global (2018 to 2020) and Virtual Marketing 360 (2020). Then one day, she had an epiphany – she could run social media for herself.

“From that moment on, I began branding myself. Learning more about how to build a community on social media as an individual and not a business. Started shooting with photographers, and collaborating with brands,” she said to SHOUTOUT.

She continued: “I pursued this artistic/creative career because I really valued having control of my own time and creating my own schedule. I had witnessed people creating wildly successful careers, all from wifi, and I just became obsessed. Why work for someone else, on a tight schedule, when you could work for yourself and have no glass ceiling or barriers at all?”

On June 15,  2018, Dubois created her self-titled YouTube channel where she shares vlogs about fitness, fashion, food and travel, modelling and, generally, her personal life. She also has an X (Twitter) account with over 155,000 followers. In addition, Dubois has over 1 million followers on TikTok.

Meanwhile, she became a social media sensation after a video of her walking the runway at Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week in a green crossover neckline bikini went viral on X (Twitter) in 2023.

However, the internet sensation has since clarified that having a successful career in modelling and social media is not easy, despite the perks that come with the job.

“Don’t get me wrong, social media and modelling is harder than I ever expected. Considering I AM THE ART, the product (and) the service, meanwhile, I am also a perfectionist. Which means I now am insanely critical of myself. But that just challenges me to do more of the inner work,” she said.

“Working for yourself isn’t for everyone, but I personally wouldn’t want it any other way. Every day, my schedule is different, I never know what opportunities will show up in my inbox.”
