The Paddock Fire has burned 187,185 acres and is 5 percent contained as of Sunday morning.

Despite the thunderstorms on Saturday, crews made good progress building dozer control lines. Crews are now monitoring and patrolling lines.

Crews are protecting structures and performing mop-ups in areas that have already burned to prevent flare-ups.

After thunderstorms on Saturday crews are keeping an eye out for any new lightning-caused fires in the area after a lightning strike started a fire in Washington County just north of the Paddock fire. Aerial Crews were able to hold the new fire at 40 acres and two tanker and tender crews are continuing to monitor the area.

Evacuations have been downgraded to a level 1 'ready' status. Though the Sweet-Ola Highway, Spring Creek Road, Butte Road, and the Van Deusen Road all remain closed to through traffic.
